Dear Sir,
About 6 months ago I sold all of my investments in your Imputation fund and in
your Cash fund. You then sent me 2 forms requesting feedback or the reason for
my doing so. It was not easy for me to answer your questions and so I did not do
so, but now I would like you to understand my reasons for doing so.
You are an excellent company and I was very pleased by the service I received.
Australia is a beautiful country and your people are beautiful.
There is a but and it is a very big but. You do not like foreigners. I am a 58-
year-old semi-retired white computer programmer. I had been visiting Perth
Australia for the last 20 years, and had greatly enjoyed the climate and the
warmth of the people. I was starting to regard it as a second home. I had the
idea to buy a house, to invest my money, and to apply to settle in Australia.
About 2 years ago I again flew from Singapore to Perth. This time the reception
was definitely hostile. Our exit from the aircraft was obstructed by a man
handing out leaflets with threats about bringing food into the country. Who
would want to? Australian food is great. There were more TV cameras then before.
There was a complete wall of one-way mirror glass. Arrivals then have to queue
to be interrogated about their visit to the country. This is hardly a welcome to
tourists who want to spend their money in Australia.
After the passport inspection, victims then have to walk along a corridor to the
baggage claim, where a scruffy looking elderly boarder guard may stop them.
Japanese were especially targeted.
After collecting the bags then the problems really begin. Most victims make for
the green channel and get redirected to the red channel. Those that are admitted
to the green channel get redirected to a blue channel. There yet another scruffy
looking elderly border guard will open and search your suitcase. It was
noticeable that most of the victims were either elderly like myself or women
with children. My scruffy was called Ian. He selected a pair of my girlfriend's
knickers and started to wave them around in excitement. He then went through my
swimming pants suggesting (hoping) that they were bras. Then a female dyke
approached from the left side and stuck a plastic probe with a piece of cloth on
the end into my sponge bag. She then asked me whether I had ever taken drugs.
She then went away with it, presumably to some kind of drug analysis machine.
After these two had finished their amusement a third younger bright young thing
approached and asked if I minded their looking at the hard disk on my laptop
computer. Being Australia and Australian people I had no problem with that. In
fact a search warrant is required and for that there needs to be probable cause.
Even a terrorist has this right.
I was then taken to another room while they went searching for an adaptor for my
plug. They stopped when I told them that it had a battery. A fourth senior man
then approached and asked if I had any pornography on my computer.
As anyone who accesses the Internet will know it is difficult not to have
pornography on ones computer. Then I was asked what kind of pornography. Of
course during all of this time I was trusting and cooperative. It is only
afterwards that the disgusting nature of the suggestions dawned on me. So I said
yes and showed then a short porno movie and some pictures of some naked women.
I was then asked if I had any child pornography or bestiality. By this time
there was quite an audience of four or more, all smiling and winking to each
other. When I replied that this was disgusting the boss realised that they had
gone a bit too far and so they decided to go no further. It is not the child
pornography that is disgusting although it is, it is the sadistic pleasure that
these perverts of Perth airport get at the discomfort of others.
Then I sat down for a while, visibly shaken by the experience and asked the
senior man, who stayed with me why they had picked on me and what I had ever
done to them. He replied that I was giving indications whatever that may mean.
The full horror and shock of the experience had still not hit me.
I then emerged and now the scruffy elderly border guard from the corridor wanted
his turn. He wanted to look at my passport, which he photocopied. He then asked
me if I was working. He then asked me how much money I had.
Finally they let me go and I boarded a shuttle bus to my hotel. The driver and
other passengers did not believe my experiences. I told the driver that I just
wanted to be taken to the departure lounge and to take the next flight out. He
like so many in Australia depends on tourists for his living so talked me out of
it. I agreed to stay on this occasion but not to return. I have never returned.
The worst part of this experience is the aftershock and the suggestion that I
was in any way involved in the things that they were suggesting. I was unable to
sleep for many nights after that and went to see a doctor, who prescribed
sleeping pills. So now I am on drugs. Up to that time I was never on drugs.
Naturally I want no association with Australia or things Australian and the mere
sight of a kangaroo or of the flag makes me sick. This is the reason why I have
taken all of my money out of your country. Australia is not the beautiful
country of beautiful people that one would want to believe. It is now an iron
curtain country and I would recommend all to keep well away.
With best wishes
JOHN BLACK
